Synchropillar

I was invited by Syngress to join a team to create a "LEGO Mindstorms Masters" book, where we got to build whatever creations we want without restrictions to a particular set. We got to describe the science behind the design of the robots in as much detail as we wanted.

This is my penumatic AND gate invention. It is a successor to my pneumatic OR gate invention. It is much simpler than the OR gate. This simplicity allows it to operate faster, more reliably and at lower pressures than the OR gate.

Caterpillar moves by expanding and contracting pistons in a coordinated fashion. This moves the feet forward one at a time. It moves forward very slowly.

On a flight to Boston, I figured out an important graphical technique for designing complex pneumatic circuits. I created asynchropillar. After asychropillar worked so well I got the idea to make an inchworm that used a traveling wave propagating down the body to walk.
